Taking care of those who have defended our country is a huge priority for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where we are dedicated to ensuring that our current and former service men and women get the support and care that they need. We provide health care, counselling, and recreational and educational services that are invaluable to the veteran community.
Health Is Our Primary Concern
People correlate the Department of Veterans Affairs with health care. Some often think of wounded returning veterans seeking rehabilitation services, but that is not all. Although our agency does significant and important work to help veterans who were wounded while serving in the military, the demand for mental health services is increasing.
Education Is the Key to Reintegration
The VA helps those who are seeking to better themselves through continuing education. We help patrons understand and claim their education benefits, which can include free college. The agency also serves as a point of advocacy for veterans who are having issues getting their vouchers accepted or obtaining appropriate documentation.
Housing Helps You Succeed
The Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes the impact that easily obtainable and maintainable housing can have on veterans’ long-term success. Those who have served our country are eligible for various housing benefits including loans for home purchases. In addition to helping veterans purchase homes, we also offer grants that can help veterans secure more temporary forms of housing.
The department does invaluable work to support returning veterans and their families. We offer programs that are aimed at quick and easy reintegration of veterans with their loved ones. The programs we offer are numerous. Some of the most important are for health, housing, education, insurance, and disability. Without the work of our government agency, many veterans, especially those who were disabled in the line of duty, would have extreme difficulty re-establishing themselves when they return home.
