What do dental implants in South Loop involve?
Dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots that resemble screws and are made of titanium. When somebody loses a tooth or teeth, the body gradually reabsorbs the bone that had supported the tooth. The jawbone gradually gets weaker. The surrounding teeth might shift towards the empty space in order to close the gap and become less stable. In the worst cases, they might fall out, too.
A dental implant will keep the patient’s jawbone strong and keep their teeth in their proper positions.
The dentist will administer a local anesthetic to keep the patient comfortable. They will then make small incisions to reach the jawbone and use a drill to make a place for the implant. Lumineers are caps similar to veneers that hide such flaws as gaps or discoloration. They are thinner than veneers, so the dentist won’t have to make space for them by shaving off a lot of enamel.
Lumineers are custom-made for the patient, so they require two visits. During the first visit, the dentist will take a mold of the patient’s teeth and send it to a lab to have the Lumineers made. During the second visit, the dentist will bond them to the patient’s teeth. With proper care, Lumineers can last for over 20 years.
