There are many kinds of complications that can occur with vision; the most common of these are near and far sightedness. In fact, if you wear a pair of eyeglasses, then the chances are you have one of these two conditions. There are several different medical techniques used to handle correction of these issues. The most common one used today is called LASIK eye surgery. This procedure is performed by an eye specialist and involves the use of a small laser. This laser is then used to remove the cornea of your eye so corrections can be made to the cornea itself. If you are considering this method, you will be happy to know that there are LASIK surgeons in Orange County who are waiting to help you. Let’s talk about the process of getting your eyes corrected, and how long the entire affair will take.

The Initial Appointment

When you walk into your local eye center you will be greeted by a receptionist and told to take a seat. Once you get into the back you will have a detailed exam that will be followed by a discussion with your surgeon. He will explain the entire process to you step by step, and then talk about the possible complications and side effects that may occur during the surgery. When all of your questions have been answered the doctor will then schedule you a time and date.

The Day of Laser Surgery

On the day of your procedure you will be escorted into the back so the preparations for the surgery can take place. You will be given a set of drops that will numb your eyes so you can’t feel anything; they also help keep you from blinking. In addition to that, they use a small instrument that will keep your eyes open. It is completely safe and there is nothing to worry about. Once you are prepared the procedure will commence and after as little as fifteen minutes you should be finished and recovering.

The Aftermath and Recovery

You will have some discomfort following the procedure. This is completely normal and to be expected. Your eyes may be watery and it might be hard to see initially, but this will clear relatively quickly. Your vision should be completely healed within a couple of months. As you can see this technique is quick and mostly painless. It’s an excellent choice to use for vision corrections.
